You can get a Direct Line home insurance quote in minutes! All you will need is a strong connection to the internet and a device that will connect you to the internet. If you already registered into Direct Line’s website, you will have to log in to be able to see your quote or they call this as the “Retrieve A Quote”. You will need your E-Mail address (the one you used to register) and your chosen password combination. Once you have successfully logged in, you will be able to retrieve a quote and also get new quotes! If you haven’t registered yet, it would be the best move to do so.

In the registration, you will be asked about a few personal details like your first name, surname, date of birth, post code or more known as your ZIP code, and your online customer code. Don’t know your online customer code? Why don’t you check out your policy schedule? You will usually find it there at the top right hand corner.  If it isn’t there, you can simply request it. Don’t worry, you will see the request button once you are filling up the form. After you have filled that up, we move on to your log in details. You will need to provide a valid E-Mail address, a password of eight to ten characters. And finally, for added security, you will select a security question from a drop down menu and give you answer. Don’t let anyone else know the answer and question in your security question. When you are finished, be sure to click DONE.

If you are a completely new user or new customer, you need to find the GET A QUOTE button instead of the RETRIEVE A QUOTE. The button is read so I’m sure that you will easily see it. There’s also a chat option around the corners of the page that you can click if you need any assistance while filling the form up. The first set of questions will be all about it. It is a must that you answer every question honestly. You will need to provide your name, date of birth, E-Mail address, contact number. In the next one, you will be talking about your home. For example, you will be asked for your ZIP code, if your property is a listed building, how many people live in your home, how many children live in your home, if you own it or if you are renting it, the approximate year the home was built, the property type, what the exterior walls are made of, if there is any part of your roof that is flat, how many bathrooms you have, how many bedrooms you have, if you want to add a joint policy holder, and finally when you want your cover to start.

In the third part of the form, they will be asking about claims. They will ask you about the number of claims that you have made or any losses you have suffered in the last 3 years by yourself or anyone who is living with you. How many years you had that was claim free on both buildings and contents insurance. In the fourth part, they will be asking about your pets (if you have any), professionally installed and maintained alarm system in your home (if you have any), and if you live with someone who already has a Direct Line policy (this can earn you a discount!). Finally, the last part will be a brief notification about your privacy. In this part, Direct Line will be informing you how and what they will use your information for and what terms can be covered. Take note that they may exchange your information with other insurers, reinsurers, and other carefully selected parties in order to manage your policy and offer you the best possible service. They will also be obtaining information from you about credit reference agencies to check your credit status and identity. Don’t worry, your credit standing will not be affected.

Note that from Time to Time Direct Line will be sending your notifications on offers on their other products and services that they believe will be beneficial to you, and these come from their other UKI owned brands. You can also opt out of receiving these alerts, no worries.

What do you think of Direct Line now? Is it the insurance company for you?
