Did you know that there are so many ways that you can sign up for discounts when it comes to an auto insurance with AARP? You can ask your insurance agent or you can check out their website on how you can avail of a discount. AARP wants their policyholders to feel like their car insurance policy is within reach, and that’s why they have provided many ways on how you can get a discount.
Bundle Insurance Savings
If you have signed up with AARP for their auto and home insurance, then you will be able to get a discount and save on both policies. You can save up at least 5 percent on auto insurance, and 20 percent on your home, condo, renters insurance by bundling them.
Other insurance companies call this as the multi-policy discount.
You will also be able to save some money when it comes to comprehensive insurance coverage. Comprehensive insurance cover is part of their standard package. When we say comprehensive coverage, we are talking about the protection your car will be getting to pay for repairs that aren’t connected to collisions. In fact, this coverage is sometimes known as the “other than collision” coverage. If your car has anti-theft devices like alarms or tracking devices, then you will be able to keep your car safe and get a discount. This sounds like a win win situation for you, right?
Check if your car has automatic airbags then you can avail of the discount the company offers when it comes to this. You will be able to save more on your AARP auto insurance policy if your car has more than one airbag.
Defensive Driver Course
A good news about this discount is that it can last for 3 years if ever you complete an approved defensive driver course. All you have to do would be to send them a copy of your certificate and they will apply the credit to your car insurance premium. Easy right?
Vehicle Fuel Type
Fuel is very expensive and it is also not really that great on the environment. AARP cares about the environment and your pocket as well, so they are giving you a discount if you own hybrid or electric vehicles. Time to look into them if you want.
You will be able to receive a credit on your premium for drivers who are under 21 years old ( Note: under 25 in Georgia ), who have successfully completed an approved training course.
You will also be able to receive a car insurance credit (as long as the owner or operator of the car is at least 16 years of age and a full time student in high school, college, or university. Even vocational school is okay). The student must be part of the upper 20% of his or her class scholastically. He or she must also be able to maintain a B average or equivalent. The student must also be able to make a grade of at least 3.0 out of 0.4. And finally, the student has to be a part of the Dean’s list, Honor Roll or the comparable list.
You will have to present a certified statement from a school official on each anniversary date indicating that the student has met one of the following requirements during the immediately preceding school semester.
